Probably one of the few big film events this year – Wonder Woman 84. Most of us are fascinated by superhero women – they seem so fearless, strong and empowered. Yet I think in the new era films they are also very humanized and relatable.
I admired the looks that were created in this film. Costumes are a very powerful soft tool used in the movies to strengthen the messages that characters are translating.
The famous white gown that Diana wore for the museum event was the most outstanding outfit of the film. I think the white flowing long silk dress combined with the thick golden cuff bracelet was symbolizing a “goddess” resembling ancient Greek style and generally the “good”

In contrast to Diana’s white goddess dress, Barbara was wearing a tight sexy black lace dress, contouring her body, and demonstrating her transition very well. The black color of the dress and its aggressive style paired with those shoes were symbolizing her turning towards the dark side and getting one steps towards the villain Cheetah.

Diana’s professional looks are also deserving a special attention. They were beautifully put together in 80s style, however they are one step up from the 80s as they have this modern touch. Her looks were classic, elegant and simple. The animal print shoes have surprised me a bit, as they weren’t as much in character and style of Diana. I think they were sort of a trigger that caught Barabara’s attention and created Cheetah in her imagination. These shoes also put Diana on pedestal for Barabara, as she wasn’t only elegant and smart, but also sexy and playful. It seemed like she had it all.
The first look below is such an amazing inspiration for the office style with the belt, the vest, combination of the colors and the cuts of the trousers and the jacket.

These looks of Barabra have been quite interesting too.
First is another total black look, this time a bit more aggressive with leather leggings, her style becoming punkier.
Second one is very 80s with fake fur and high leather boots, with Cheetah coming out of her now in animal print mini skirt and torn tights showing through.

In the final scene we can see another transition. This time it is Diana. At the beginning of the movie, she was dedicated to helping others and has completely abandoned her personal life. She has now decided to enjoy everyday life because there is just “so many things… ” 🙂
