The show was Kim Jones’s Fendi debut. He has previously created menswear in Dior and worked at Louis Vuitton.
He reflected spirit of Charleston Farmhouse – inspired by the 16th -century Sussex retreat of the Bloomsbury. This was an area he grew up in and where he has been sketching the ornaments of furnishings and frescoes when he was a child. He has masterfully transferred his childhood memories into beautiful embroidered embellishments in this collection.
The collection was also carrying Bridgerton vibes – the popular Netflix show that inspired many fashion collections this year.
There were only 19 looks in the show, displayed by really high profile cast: from Kim’s longtime friends Demi Moore, Kate and Lila Moss and Naomi Campbell to the new generation super models – Cara Delevingne and Bella Hadid.
The show was really remarkable for its design and flow: glass maze in shape of letter F – Fendi’s logo and models taking their place inside an individual glass cubicle as they display the looks.
There were exaggeratedly long accessories, like chandelier earrings and necklaces. Generously decorated hair accessories also caught attention.
The looks were monochrome and in neutral colors which was a good balance with rich embroidery of the looks.
Psychedelic carpets and music toned down aristocratic vibes of the collection.
The looks had 1930s Vionnet silhouette gowns, silk suits, marbled garments, few looks with half an evening gown and half a blazer or shirt – it was a very rich collections, even though there were only 19 looks displayed.
