The ex-pop star and now world-famous designer and style icon Victoria Beckham has had various style transformations through different stages of her life.
90s – Posh Spice
Spice Girls became popular very quickly in 90s. Each band member famously had their own alter ego with a distinctive style to match. Victoria was known as Posh spice – the most fashionable and feminine spice girl in the band. Her sexy and glam style on the stage was also replicated in her daily life. She was often seen in skimming little black dresses, miniskirts, and bra tops. Her go to brands have been Gucci and Dolce Gabbana.

2000s – New wed with Beckham and transition period from Spice Girls to becoming an award-winning fashion designer
Victoria Beckham’s style has evolved gradually over the years. Looking back at her style now, it is very contrasting compared to Posh Spice years. She shifted from sexy and sleek to chic and minimalistic over the years, step by step.
Her wedding to David Beckham in 1999 and end of her career in Spice Girls have certainly influenced her style. She has moved away from minimalistic sexy glam of 90s to more sophisticated looks. Victoria started to play more with textures and shapes, including more lace, drapes, bright colors, and layers to her outfits. Her style was still very bold and sexy: tiny tight dresses and deep cleavages have evolved from being minimalistic to even more eye catching with the help of more defined colors and fabrics.

Her high-profile red-carpet appearances with David Beckham have also had their influence on Victoria’s style evolution. They have been one of the most famous “Fashion Couples” in 2000s. At first, she was appearing in bold and sexy looks at the red-carpet events, but as years passed, she started to dress chicer and more minimalistic, but in much more subtle way compared to 90s minimalism.

There were two events at the end of 2000s that are a good display of the turning point in her style:
2007 Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris – Her elegant midi A line white dress has caused a lot of interest and laid a foundation of her association with good taste.
2008 at Met Gala – when she wore a white Lacy Gown by Giorgio Armani. This look was more elegant and sophisticated compared to Victoria’s usual sexy glam profile. Paired up with David in classic tuxedo, the couple were named among the best dressed and established themselves as fashion icons one more time.

2010s – Victoria as a Fashion Designer
Since launch of her own brand (2008), Victoria’s style started to change rapidly. She started to appear in pieces by Chanel and Roberto Cavalli, looking more mature and elegant s opposed to sultry outfits by Dolce Gabbana and Gucci.
She has chosen elegance and minimalism as basis of her fashion brand. By curating her personal style, she became the main ambassador of her own brand and received huge success. People were obsessed with new Victoria and her red carpet and streetstyle appearances became fashion tutorials.
Victoria Beckham has a signature style of her own, that’s hard to miss. She is often seen in midi-length dresses, neat collared shirts, and smart suits – mainly her own designs. VB is also showing minimal skin and her clothes are well fitted but never tight.
Her brand has received Designer Brand of the Year at The British Fashion Awards in 2011 & 2014
VB has admitted in one of her interviews that, she believes her style in late 90s and 2000s was perhaps a sign of insecurity.
