Chanel Fashion show reviews Ready to Wear

Chanel Fall 2018 2019 Ready to Wear

August 22, 2021

One of the most beautiful shows of Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld. Both the show and the collection are very tasteful and minimalistic which allows to absorb every detail – true masterpiece of Karl Lagerfeld and sadly one of his last shows.

The collection was full of long and lean silhouettes like the ankle coats and calf-length skirt suits, most looks were wrapped up in warm scarves, creating a cozy autumn atmosphere.

Grand Palais was transformed into enchanted woodland forest, with a carpet of fallen leaves, wet green moss, and naked trees – all real.

There are interesting blocks of looks in this collection:

The show starts with total black looks, styled in perfection with some exquisite details, like lurex leggings, large asymmetrical gold earrings and large gold buttons and even some feathers occasionally. The minimalist colors and shapes of this collection allow these details to stand out.

The next block of looks, consist of signature Chanel tweed suits and jackets in grey bronze and brown shades, blending into each other and the background of crunchy autumn leaves. The golden boots complete the looks, also blending seamlessly with the carpet from leaves.

Further down, we can see some more colors: purple and green tweeds and translucent leather skirt, still in darkest shades.

Pops of color start to appear later in this part, with a few looks with elongated colorful scarves. The bright colors that appeared are in warm tones, from yellow and orange to brown and bright pink so we still see some level of consistency and minimalism in the collection.

There is a series of looks with some neon green and blue details later as well.

Despite having a few bright spots, overall colors of the collection were mainly earth tones, and black, which worked perfectly with natural colors of the location.

Lagerfeld really went all in with autumn theme for this collection. The floral prints resembled autumns leaves and were in the warm shades of brown, bronze dark green and purple.

Little Black Dresses – The most anticipated part of Chanel shows, rarely seizes to impress and this time was no exception. Beautifully layered tulle, delicate lace work and embroideries – dresses were on point in this show.
