Royal Ascot is a national institution that was established almost 300 years ago. It is a major racing event in Britain and a platform for the best racehorses in the world. The racecourse was established by Queen Anne in 1711 and still remains the most recognizable annual horse racing event.
Royal Ascot is known to be one of the most favorite summer events of Queen Elizabeth II. Sher has never missed the event in her 69-year reign, in exception of last year’s races, which she attended remotely from Windsor Castle due to Covid-19 restrictions. The Queen is a big fan of the races and has won around £7 million from horse racing.

Fashion and style have always been an integral part of the Royal Ascot experience. What makes the race event also a huge fashion event, is the strict dress code rules that all attendees must follow. The traditional dress code creates the ambience of the elegance and class and turns it into a unique experience.
Here are some of the main rules for ladies and gentlemen that are mandatory:
- It is expected to dress in smart midi or maxi length dresses with a hat or fascinator for ladies
- Three-piece suites with a waistcoat and ties (no cravats or bow ties) accompanied with top hats.
- For those who wear top hats or any other large hats it is very important to take them off, as when sat down they may block the view of others.
The most popular fashion icons of Royal family Kate Middleton and Megan Markle have probably the most notable Royal Ascot looks. Kate has become the star of the Royal Ascot, when attending the event, demonstrating very elegant and feminine looks . The Duchess of Cambridge has missed several Royal Ascot events, including this year due to her maternity leaves and conflict with important projects. Megan has attended Royal Ascot only once in 2019, with a very memorable elegant look.

After massively scaling down due to Covid restrictions in 2020, Royal Ascot was back for 2021. Iconic horse racing event traditionally takes place every June and this year was no exception. Although a lot of celebrities and politicians are regular in the list of attendees, the Royal family is usually in the center of the attention at the Royal Ascot. Prince Charles and Camilla, Princess Anne, Zara Philips, Countess of Wessex have made an appearance on the first days of the races. Her Majesty has nicely surprised everyone with a visit on the last day. She looked absolutely delighted and was really enjoying her favorite summer event in full dressed in a very elegant suit with a cheerful hat.

Needless to say, Princess Diana has always been the center of attention at Royal Ascot during her years with Royal Family and has many interesting looks that are still in memories.
