Since the release of the last film (2010) a lot of things have changed in the world that had an impact on fashion. Evolution of fast fashion, accessibility of digital platforms, inclusivity and rise of comfort and masculinity in female fashion has unlocked endless opportunities. Fashion has never been so fast pace and streamlined as it is now.
From Manolo Blahniks that Sarah Jessica’s Carrie Bradshaw brought to fame to Samantha’s Hermes Birkin bag, the famous show’s fashion of 1990s has stapled itself as truly iconic.
More than two decades later from the first episode of Sex and the City, And Just Like That had fashion and style in the center of the new season, reflecting new trends and characters’ fashion in their 50s.
According to new designers of the show Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago who took over, as Patricia Field was engaged in another project, by bringing in the new styles, they were just updating the fashion and making the established styles of the characters more modern. Below are the most signature looks from Sex and The City reboot that are candidates to become iconic, just like the newspaper dress, nude slip dress from Carrie’s first date with Big, famous Versace mile feuille dress from the original series
The Valentino Couture Gown
The most standout piece of the show has been the bright orange Valentino Couture Gown, which arguable surpassed its predecessor – the mile feuille Versace dress that was also reworn in the sequel.
Carrie wore this dress in the last scene of the final episode when spreading Big’s ashes off the bridge where they came back together in the finale of the Sex and the City series.
The finale look with dramatic gown has turned out absolutely jaw dropping, paired with contrasting fuchsia coloured opera gloves, Eiffel shaped bag where Carrie stored Big’s ashes and a massive high braided bun.

The Oscar de la Renta Dresses
The reboot’s first episode introduces Charlotte’s teenage daughters, Lily and Rose (Rock), preparing for Lily’s piano recital in matching floral dresses from Oscar de la Renta.
Lily is wearing the Rosette cocktail dress, while her younger sister Rose (Rock), reluctantly wears a maxi version in same floral design. The dresses of the sisters are matched with Charlotte’s floral dress. Matching dresses also featured the difference between Charlotte’s daughters: Lily, who has very similar personality and taste for femininity as Charlotte opposed to Rose, who will start to be called Rock within few episodes and is exploring her masculinity.
Twinning moment between the three York Goldenblatt ladies has been quite remarkable as it has uncovered the controversy inside the family, but also united them in one scene
This was a very Charlotte look: elegant and feminine.

The Unknown Dress
Surprisingly, from all the looks of the reboot, this fairly simple dress has been by far the most controversial before the show was even aired.
When paparazzi shots have been released, the dress has been suspected to be from Forever 21 which caused a lot of discussions whether or not designers have chosen to introduce fast fashion pieces to Carrie’s wardrobe.
The show’s costume designers had to release a statement about the piece, and to disappointment of the fans of the brand, the dress was purchased from a vintage store years ago and had no label attached, so it was impossible to trace back the designer.
Nevertheless, the outfit — which was finally seen in the third episode — has become one of the most famous looks from the new season, paired with a Gucci and Balenciaga Hacker Project handbag and sparkly heels by Terry de Havilland. This was a very classic Carrie Bradshow look which made the fans feel very nostalgic. Mix of unknown vintage and high-end brands, shimmery high heels, layered structure of the look – are all the details that that made Carrie’s style so unique.

The Norma Kamali Diana Gown
This look was also one of the most loved pieces from the show, and became popular before the release of it.
This is also one of the few more affordable labels that have been introduced in the show: body hugging, pastel blue one shoulder Norma Kamali dress has immediately become ‘new Carrie Bradshaw’ dress, comparisons drawn with her nude slip dress that was called Carrie’s ‘naked dress’ from one of the landmark fashion moments of the original Sex and the City show.
Bradshaw wears the Norma Kamali dress during episode seven when she goes on her first date after Big’s death. The dress was paired with a vintage Max Mara blazer- one of the many standout blazer moments of Carrie.

The Smoking Outfit (a.k.a Babushka Look)
Yet another look that became iconic while the show was still filming – Carrie’s babushka look – also called Carrie’s smoking outfit. The fans were left totally confused with the photos that were released from the set, featuring Carrie in a pink gingham dress, undone Mary Jane heels, a blue hoodie, scarf tied in babushka style and latex gloves.
The look was from the show’s eighth episode where Carrie was wearing this outfit to protect her clothes from the smoke of the cigarettes after she started smoking again.
Although the fashion of this show did not have a hint of ageism, Carrie dropped couple of extraordinary babushka looks

Charlotte’s Dog Walking Look
Another very Charlotte moment from the sequel was when she was walking her dogs, with a Burberry dog poop bag dispenser.
This look was a good display of the modern twist that the designers have brought to Charlotte’s classic fashion taste. It was interesting to see what brands will be of preference of our classic and reserved Charlotte. Although still classic, her style had some casual elements which is along with current trends. Her white blouse is Stella Mc Cartney, assymmetric polka dot skirt from Balenciaga and Rianna and Nina treasure box bag – Perfect mix of sustainable, bold and exclusive brands.

Polka Dot Skirt Look
Carrie’s statement giant polka dot skirt is Carolina Herrera, paired with bodysuit which was one of the few affordable pieces- from Capezio. Her sparkling shoes were by Duchessa Gardini, and the handbag was a hand painted Rebecca Moses. Known for love for dramatic headwear Carrie has demonstrated many looks with extravagant hats. This look is featuring one of the bird themed hats from this season – one of her old times passions
This look combines bold hat and skirt print, as well as standout shoes, yet looks very organic Carrie Bradshow manner

First Look of the Season
Her debut look in the first episode was certainly among the favorites. Silk black floral jacket, beautiful sand color jumpsuit, multi-colored heels, and a feathered hat.
She paired the look with two handbags, which was one of the interesting new “Carrie” ways of styling.

Diwali Look
When coming across this look, one can easily confuse it with one of Sarah Jessica’s Met Gala looks. It demonstrates well how much Carrie’s fashion has been shaped by Sarah Jessica’s iconic Style.
SJP was photographed wearing a traditional maroon lehenga designed by Indian designers Falguni and Shane Peacock.
The fully embroidered multi colour outfit was matched with purple and fuchsia hair accents.
